May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and reduce stigma around mental illness. The District of Columbia has made progress integrating mental health services into primary care settings through models like Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH). However, recent data shows we have more work to do.
The District’s Live.Long.DC. strategic plan aims to leverage health, behavioral health, and housing resources to combat this crisis through a comprehensive strategy.
As Integrated Care DC works to improve residents’ overall health and well-being through team-based, collaborative care, we encourage providers to:
- Check out our PCBH Learning Series for ways to improve and promote overall health within the general population.
- Check out the DC Department of Behavioral Health’s (DBH) resources on mental health awareness and education.
