DHCF and CRISP Announces DC HIE Consent Management Solution Project
CRISP DC is partnering with DHCF to develop a comprehensive, open-source consent management solution to enable compliant electronic exchange of behavioral health information, including substance use disorder (SUD) data protected by 42 CFR Part II, through the District of Columbia Health Information Exchange (DC HIE). Based on a patient’s authorization, this data is shared with treating providers through the DC HIE. CRISP DC piloted the configurable electronic consent management tool to initial user groups over the last year and is prepared to make this tool available to all clinical CRISP users by July 2022. Click here to download the PDF one-pager.
Stay connected with the Integrated Care DC project to hear program updates and join technical assistance sessions to help your care team understand and integrate the consent tool into your practice.

June is LGBTQ Pride Month
Every year during June, we celebrate and recognize the significant cultural and political contributions of LGBTQ people worldwide. We want to highlight two DC-based organizations advancing harm reduction and mental and behavioral health services for members of the LGBTQ community.
The DC Center for the LGBT Community focuses on health and wellness, arts & culture, social & peer support, and advocacy and community building for LGBTQ+ individuals ages 18 and up. The organization offers individual and group trauma-informed mental health supports, including services for adult survivors of violence, abuse, and trauma in DC. To learn more about the DC Center, visit www.thedccenter.org.
HIPS advances the health rights and dignity of people and communities impacted by sex work and drug use by providing non-judgmental harm reduction services, advocacy, and community engagement led by those with lived experience. In addition to harm reduction, they operate a syringe exchange, on-site laundry, health clinic, and housing and employment resources for transgender individuals. Jason Wallis, LICSW
Mental Health Clinician
Unity Health Care
On behalf of Unity Health Care, we are excited to send a “shout out” of recognition to Jason Wallis, LICSW, Mental Health Clinician at Unity Health Care (pictured on the right). Jason continues to go above and beyond in his efforts to integrate behavioral health in a primary care setting. While transitioning to an integrative model presents challenges, Jason exceeds expectations by providing support to primary care providers, consultation to patients and care teams, clinical supervision to a licensed graduate social worker, and being an overall champion for the implementation of the integrative model. Unity Health Care thanks Jason for his commitment to improving access to care and his efforts to improve our integrative care.
Every clinic team member plays a critical role in the success of the practice. We want to showcase individuals who help make your practice a success, especially when healthcare workers are working harder than ever. Do you know someone deserving of this recognition or want to recognize yourself? Let’s hear from you—use this link to tell us more.

Health Management Associates, #1780, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Health Management Associates maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 09/22/2021 – 09/22/2022. To earn CE credit, social workers must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course and complete an online course evaluation.
